Collection of Information

Generally, you can visit our Site without telling us who you are or revealing any Personal Information about yourself; however, you must provide Personal Information in order to receive communications, make donations, volunteer, or make other requests. Accordingly, in the course of using this Site, HRI may ask you for certain information, including, but not limited to, your name, email address, postal address, and telephone number (home and work) (any of which is “Personal Information”). Such information is provided voluntarily and knowingly.

We may also ask for certain information about you when you make a donation on the Site. This information may include your name, mailing and billing address, zip code, phone number, billing information and/or email address. This information may be required to
complete your donation.

HRI may also collect non-personally identifiable information when you visit our Site, including but not limited to the type of Internet browser you are using, the type of operating system you are using, device information, the domain name of your Internet service provider, aggregate data about the number of visits to the Site, and aggregate data about the pages visited, but in doing so, we do not connect this information with your Personal
Information such as your name or email address.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

HRI may use cookies and other tracking technologies to collect non-personally identifiable information (“General Information”) about Site visitors. A cookie is a very small text file placed on the hard drive of your computer. HRI may use tracking tools, including without limitation cookies, in order to improve the Site by providing aggregate information on the number of visitors and usage patterns and allowing us to recognize you when you revisit the Site to provide you with customized information and to remember your preferences.

HRI does not engage in the collection of Personal Information over time and across third-party websites, and we do not permit third parties to gather information passively on our Sites for behavioral advertising purposes.

You can control many tracking tools, including cookies. In particular, you may refuse to accept browser cookies by activating the appropriate setting on your browser. However, if you select this setting you may be unable to access certain parts of our Site. Unless you have adjusted your browser setting so that it will refuse cookies, our system will issue cookies when you direct your browser to our Site. Additionally, some browsers have a ‘do not track’ feature that lets you tell websites that you do not want to have your online activities tracked. These features are not yet consistent or uniform, so we are currently not set up to respond to those signals.

We may disclose the Personal Information that we collect from you or that you provide, as follows:

  • To fulfill the purpose for which you provide it.
  • For any other purpose disclosed by us when you provide the information.
  • With your consent.
  • To comply with any court order, law or legal process, including to respond to any government or regulatory request.
  • To enforce or apply our terms of use and other agreements.
  • If we believe disclosure is necessary or appropriate to protect the rights, property, or safety of HRI, our employees and volunteers, or others.

We may disclose aggregated, General Information about our users without restriction.

Notwithstanding the foregoing, HRI may be required to use your Personal Information to complete transactions requested by you or to cooperate with government officials or parties in litigation under process of law, or as otherwise required by law and/or to protect against legal liability.

Please note that the limitations on HRI’s use of Personal Information and General Information as set forth above do not apply in the event of a transfer of HRI’s assets, and General Information and Personal Information owned or in the possession of HRI may be transferred, distributed, or sold as part of HRI or its assets, except as prohibited by law. In addition, we may not accommodate a request to change information if we believe the change would violate any law or legal requirement or cause the information to be incorrect or if the identity of the requesting party cannot be verified.

If we have sent you a promotional email, you may send us a return email to the address specified in the email asking to be omitted from future promotional email distributions. This opt-out does not apply to transactional emails regarding your donation or updates to our policies.

Accessing and Correcting Your Information

Site users may request access to, review, correct or modify their Personal Information maintained by HRI by contacting us at 214.855.0520. We may not accommodate a request to change information if we believe the change would violate any law or legal requirement or cause the information to be incorrect or if the identity of the requesting party cannot be verified.

By using this Site, you understand that there is a risk that data and communications, including email and other electronic communications, may be accessed by unauthorized third parties when communicated over the Internet. The foregoing does not affect any liability which cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.

Our Commitment to Our Donors

This policy applies to all information received by HRI, both online and offline, on any Platform (“Platform”, includes the HRI website and mobile applications), as well as any electronic, written, or oral communications.

To the extent any donations are processed through a third-party service provider, our donors’ information will only be used for purposes necessary to process the donation.

When you make a donation, you may be asked if you would like to receive further contact from us via our Site. If you indicate yes, you will be placed on our email distribution list and you may receive promotional correspondence from us from time to time in the future. If you later want to be removed from that list, you can remove yourself by following the directions in the correspondence you receive or following the “Opt Out” procedures in this Privacy

Client Information

As part of our service work with clients, we may collect Personal Information and other sensitive information of clients. This information is provided voluntarily as part of receiving the services.
