Overview of Volunteer Policy Manual
Welcome to Human Rights Initiative! We are thrilled that you have decided to become a part of our agency. Here is a brief guide to get you started. Please speak with a member of our staff or refer to our website for the full Volunteer Policy Manual if you would like more information about volunteer policies and opportunities. Key policies to remember:Confidentiality - HRI is committed to protecting clients and preserving the trust they have in HRI and our volunteers. Volunteers are expected to respect the privacy of the clients as outlined in the confidentiality agreement and policy manual. Volunteers are not to discuss information about the clients to anyone other than an authorized HRI representative. Placement - HRI seeks to provide you with an assignment that is appropriate for your needs, skills, and interests. Please review our current opportunities pamphlet available in hardcopy or online to find the program that matches your strengths and passion. Communication - Please keep HRI up-to-date with the progress you are making with your client or project and make HRI aware of any problems you encounter. If you have a question about a project you are working on, feel free to contact your supervisor for further instructions or ideas. We love to hear from our volunteers! Training - HRI does require new volunteers to attend an initial orientation training and further training may be needed for specific programs. We encourage all volunteers to take advantage of training sessions because this will help you complete your assignments successfully, and it can also open up learning opportunities that you can take with you anywhere you want to go. We want you to feel comfortable in your assignment, so please check with the full policy manual or your supervisor to ensure you have received all of the training you need. And always let us know if you desire more training or information that will help you with your project. Hours - HRI values your time, and keeping records of volunteer hours helps HRI recognize your tremendous contribution to our agency and mission. Please remember to keep track of hours worked and update your supervisor regularly. Input and Evaluation - We want all of our volunteers to have a wonderful experience working at HRI. Please help us provide rewarding and gratifying engagements to our volunteers by completing evaluation surveys from time to time so that we may improve our programs. Your input is very important to us. Thank you again for your interest in HRI. We appreciate your contribution and services and look forward to a lasting and fulfilling relationship working with you!
