client services
For many of our clients, arrival in the United States
is a jarring experience. After fleeing terrible circumstances, they are
thrust into an unfamiliar culture and an adversarial legal process.
Understandably, they are often overwhelmed.
In addition to legal representation, Human
Rights Initiative provides a limited range of other services that are designed
to help each client:
- Cope with the initial stress of
fleeing his or her home country, and
- Begin long-term assimilation into
American society.
Immediately after the legal team accepts a
case, a case manager ensures that immediate needs for food, shelter and
medical attention or psychological care are met. The case manager serves
as a resource, building partnerships within the community and connecting
clients with the services they need.
Human Rights Initiative has collaborated with
many DFW-area service providers, including:
- Parkland Hospital
and the Violence Intervention and Prevention Center
- North Dallas Shared Ministries
- Jewish Family Services
- Mosaic Family Services
- Central Dallas Ministries
- Agape Clinic
- Catholic Charities
- World Relief
- International Rescue Committee
- Dallas County Refugee Outreach Program
- Victims Outreach
- Society of St. Vincent de Paul
- Women's Center of Tarrant County
- Center for Survivors of Torture
- New Beginning Center
- Genesis Women’s Shelter
- The Family Place
- Hope’s Door
- Safe Haven
- Brighter Tomorrow
- Union Gospel Mission
- Mission Arlington
- Grand Prairie United Charities
- White Rock Center of Hope

Since U.S. law prevents many of our
clients from working, they often find themselves dependent on the goodwill of
generous acquaintances. Human Rights Initiative’s supplemental
services provide a safety net, ensuring their basic needs are always met.
