Interpreters & Translators

HRI is actively recruiting volunteer interpeters and translators to provide written and/or verbal translation in English for HRI clients. HRI utilizes volunteer translators for many languages, including Amharic, Arabic, French, and Spanish.

Since HRI provides legal representation and social services to victims of human rights abuses, volunteers will be exposed to very sensitive and emotionally difficult information. Before volunteering each volunteer interpreter and/or translator must complete HRI's Online Application Form, attend a mandatory training, sign a confidentiality agreement and criminal background check request.  After these requirements have been met, HRI will schedule a meeting to discuss individual interest in more detail.  HRI holds trainings quarterly.  The remaining dates for 2008 are:

August 7, 2008
November 6, 2008

If you would like to register to attend the training, please email Stephanie Rodriguez.  Thank you for your interest.
