Foundations sponsor major upgrades to HRI's Infrastructure
Texas Bar Foundation, Hillcrest Foundation, and Hoblitzelle Foundation fund major upgrades to HRI's infrastructure.
HRI has recently upgraded several areas of its infrastructure. These tremendous gifts will greatly help HRI serve it's clients and donors. We are deeply grateful to each of these Foundations for their help and continued support.
Ten computers have been replaced upgrading the staff to Windows Vista®. This also includes a new firewall from Symantic® and many other security updates that were critically needed for us to maintain a secure and confidential system. Several of the older computers have been installed in our intern room to make room for summer interns, pro bonos, and clients. This was made possible through grants from the Hillcrest Foundation for $10,000 and the Hoblitzelle Foundation for $20,421.
HRI's phone system has also been upgraded. This will enable the staff to manage the basic day-to-day programming of the phones and therefore reduce cost of simple maintenance which was previously outsourced. It also gives the staff the capability to receive voice messages via e-mail and forward or store those messages for a case record or translation. Several other advanced features are in place such as call recording and a more detailed caller ID. This was made possible through the Hoblitzelle Foundation as well.
ProLaw® software has been purchased to assist the staff with case and document management. ProLaw is a leading provider of fully integrated solutions to automate the practice and manage the business of law. It has the convenience of a Microsoft® Windows desktop environment and automates case, relationship and document management. It also has comprehensive integration with Microsoft Outlook®, Word®, Westlaw® research, court rules and many other applications that will help HRI build and maintain a productive practice that remains a step ahead of other organizations. ProLaw matches the way our staff actually functions so they can spend less time on administrative tasks and more time serving what is important, our clients. This was made possible through the generosity of the Texas Bar Foundation for $19,000.
Lastly, HRI has completed the process of upgrading our website so that we can better utilize the real estate space and efficiency of our site. The website upgrade was made possible through the Hoblitzelle Foundation grant.
